Unplugged just happened in ACTS Central Subang 2 weeks ago.
A lil brief on what Unplugged is all about, taken from the poster:
UNPLUGGED, birthed in 2007 as a platform for students to showcase their talents and celebrate post-exam freedom.
And it’s beyond having fun.
It’s pretty much a chill-out night where we get to invite our friends on a Saturday night and enjoy hearing acoustic performances, message, hyped up with lots of freebies give away, refreshments, and meet lots of new people.
If you weren’t there here was what happened, and if you havent, do COME for the next one in 2010!! (it’s a long time away, but at least now u know there’s such thing called the UNPLUGGED)

Those who went that night had a great time there – but there were many things that were done to make it happen. A few hours event was only possible with dayss and weeks of planning.I reckon it is not easy.
Being asked to help out with deco an event was indeed something really new and a first time experience was both exciting and scary. Seeing how such event is being coordinated and amount of time spent makes you really appreciate each person’s commitment to serve and it’s rewarding to see people blessed in the event itself.
It started with “come out with an idea and send me a proposal by tomolo, can? Thank you soo much”.
There were no idea in my head but the words came out were, “no worries, can”. =)
No matter how much/ long your effort were put in it, it can be either “ohhh that’s nice” or “errrr, that’s bad”. A good idea did not just grow on trees, but through a process. The deco that you see on the day itself was a process of changes/ ideas being built up upon another, till the night before it. God’s just works things out till the last minute of it- and it’s always the best He wants for you.
Behind the scene:

Working on the backdrop.

multiple cardboard and double sided tape had to be used to secure the whole board.

Brass eyelets uesd to secure the plastic cap onto the board

I headed to the hardware store and asked the lady for a list of electrical items (from what my friend told me). I had absalootely no idea how to fix it out, only through logic. She insisted that I found someone who knew a thing or two about it. As I reached home, I got a called from Abel who wanted to drop by to use the bathroom, and later Egbert called and ask if he could drop by. Rays of hope =)
Thankfully, they helped fixed the whole wiring. and did a mighty great job- it was all our first time working on something like this.
it wasn’t hard, it just took an amount of time.

The wordings:

Trying to speed up the drying process =)
cut out wordings on thick cardboard and did paper mache on them (to create texture on them)
had to call mom early in the morning to find out how to make kanji =p
everyone in the house ran and helped as we were cooking for homes that day.

Paint and sprinkle glitter on them. I ran out of aerosol spray, so an alternative of hairspray did the trick. (helps make the glitter stick better onto it, making it less messy)

stamp the edges of the newspaper clipping

transporting it

hung up! wooot!! =)
I’m glad the whole event went amazingly well =)
